According to Reuters, Google is in talks with SpaceX on a rocket launch agreement for orbital data centers as the company explores relocating computing infrastructure to space. The company announced in November that its Project Suncatcher initiative plans to launch two prototype satellites into orbit by early 2027. The talks follow Anthropic’s recent announcement that it would utilize computing capacity at SpaceX’s Colossus 1 facility in Memphis and explore partnerships on space-based data centers.
