Hungary's PM Orbán Says Government Does Not Support Accelerating Ukraine's EU Accession Talks

According to CCTV, on June 3, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán stated on social media that his government does not support accelerating Ukraine's EU accession negotiations. Orbán noted that Hungary and Ukraine have reached a key agreement on issues affecting Hungarian minorities in Ukraine, including language, education, and culture rights, which could pave the way for opening the first chapter of Ukraine's EU accession talks.

Orbán said Hungary will conduct a legally binding national referendum on Ukraine's EU entry if Ukraine completes all 33 accession negotiation chapters within 10 to 15 years.
