Indonesia Blocks Crypto Prediction Platform Polymarket on May 23

According to Indonesia's Ministry of Communication and Digital Affairs, on May 23, Indonesian authorities formally blocked the crypto prediction platform Polymarket under the country's strict gambling prohibition laws. The ministry stated that platforms offering monetary bets on specific outcomes or events—even when packaged as blockchain-based or crypto-asset prediction markets—are classified as online gambling. "Activities like Polymarket contain monetary gambling and speculation on uncertain events, which violates Indonesia's current laws," said Alexander Sabar, Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs.
