According to Ali Hazirian, member of Iran’s parliamentary National Security Committee, the U.S. naval blockade of Iran constitutes a military action and should be met with military response. On May 8, Hazirian stated that the U.S. should equip its destroyers with additional escort vessels to rescue and evacuate personnel if any ship begins to sink.
