The outposts, located over 90 kilometers from Iran's northern city of Tabriz, hosted dozens of Israeli personnel including special forces, helicopter units, and intelligence officers.

The personnel were tasked with gathering military intelligence on Iran, rescuing downed pilots, and providing early warning for missile strikes, according to sources cited by CNN.
