According to Yonhapinfomax, Japan's Nikkei 225 index fell 116.59 points (0.18%) to close at 66,115.60 on July 22, while the TOPIX gained 18.18 points (0.45%) to 4,033.13. The index recovered above 67,000 during morning trading on AI and semiconductor buying driven by Middle East tensions and TSMC's announcement of up to 10% chipmaking price increases from next year. However, afternoon profit-taking in semiconductor stocks and a slowdown in overseas buying pressure sent the Nikkei lower toward 66,000 by market close.
