Japan's Real Wages Fall 0.5% in Fiscal 2025, Fourth Consecutive Year of Decline

According to Japan's Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare, Japan's real wages fell 0.5% in fiscal year 2025 (April 2025-March 2026), marking the fourth consecutive fiscal year of decline. The real wage index stood at 98.2, down from the previous fiscal year. Consumer prices, excluding owner-occupied housing rent, rose 3% year-over-year, reaching a fourth consecutive year above the 3% mark.
