Laos Transfers 494 Telecommunications Fraud Suspects to China at Mohan Port

GateNews

According to China's Ministry of Public Security, Laotian authorities handed over 494 telecommunications fraud suspects to Chinese police on May 22 at the Mohan Port in Yunnan Province's Xishuangbanna region. The handover followed a joint law enforcement operation between Chinese and Laotian police under their bilateral cooperation agreement. The suspects were apprehended during Laos's specialized crackdown on telecom fraud activities.

Official sources indicated that since Cambodia intensified its crackdown on telecommunications fraud this year, some fraud operations and personnel have relocated to Laos to continue their criminal activities. Chinese authorities, including police agencies from Sichuan and Chongqing, have received the suspects and begun processing them according to law.
