Malaysia's Communications Committee Releases Cybersecurity Guidelines on May 22, Effective June 1

According to Malaysia's Communications and Multimedia Commission, the agency released the Risk Mitigation Guidelines and Child Protection Guidelines on May 22 under the 2025 Online Safety Act. The guidelines, effective June 1, require licensed application service providers and content application service providers to implement measures reducing user exposure to harmful content and strengthening protections for child users. The guidelines outline cybersecurity responsibilities for regulated service providers.
