MediaTek Plans Workforce Expansion for AI Chips, Targets $2B Revenue This Year at Computex

According to MediaTek Senior Vice President Vince Hu at Computex on June 2, the Taiwan-based chip designer plans to hire more engineers as it expands into AI chips and data center products. MediaTek said it co-designed the GB10 Grace Blackwell Superchip used in Nvidia's DGX Spark personal AI supercomputer, including the central processing unit and memory subsystem. The company expects approximately US$2 billion in AI chip revenue this year.

MediaTek is targeting up to 15% of an estimated US$80 billion data center market next year, and Hu added that the company has visibility into orders for its data center business over the next several years.
