Middle East Conflict May Push UK Household Energy Bills Up 13%, Cornwall Insight Forecasts

GateNews
According to Jin10 on May 20, energy consulting firm Cornwall Insight predicted that rising energy prices resulting from Middle East tensions could increase UK household annual energy expenses by 13%. The firm's latest forecast for the third quarter of 2026 estimates a typical UK household's annual energy bill at up to 1,850 pounds (approximately $2,477), up from a previously projected 1,641 pounds. Cornwall Insight attributed the price surge to global energy market volatility triggered by Middle East conflict, with supply chain disruptions expected to sustain upward pressure on UK energy costs through autumn.
