According to Beating, Mistral AI CEO Arthur Mensch recently rejected concerns about the company being acquired by U.S. tech giants during a French National Assembly hearing. He criticized the trend of European startups selling to Silicon Valley, stating that successful companies avoid acquisition. Mensch also challenged Anthropic, claiming Mistral’s models can identify all security vulnerabilities Anthropic has discovered.
To support independent development, Mistral is investing €1 billion in R&D this year, with 75% of current revenue from Europe. The company plans to build an 80 MW computing cluster in France next year, targeting 1 GW capacity by 2029.
