OceanBase Seeks Series A Funding of $295M–$443M to Advance AI Database Business

According to Bloomberg, OceanBase, backed by Jack Ma's Ant Group, is in talks with investors to raise 2 billion to 3 billion yuan ($295 million–$443 million) in Series A funding to support independent operations and accelerate AI database development. The company is strengthening AI analytics capabilities to process structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data such as video, aiming to become key infrastructure connecting enterprise data with AI models and AI agents. OceanBase established an independent board of directors in 2024 and set up employee stock incentive plans to support future public listing plans.
