Polymarket Adds $250 Trump Bill Prediction Market on May 28 as Treasury Confirms Design

According to U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, Polymarket added a prediction market on May 28 regarding whether the federal government will issue $250 bills featuring President Trump by December 31, 2026. Bessent confirmed that the design has been prepared to commemorate the U.S. sesquicentennial.

The proposal requires amending the Federal Reserve Act to authorize the new denomination and override the existing ban on depicting living figures on U.S. currency. However, H.R. 1761, which would enable this change, remains stalled in the House Financial Services Committee with no significant floor vote or Senate action. Completion of legislation and printing by year-end 2026 is unlikely.
