According to Quantstamp's independent investigation, released recently, Humanity Protocol confirmed that attackers used tools and methods linked to North Korean hackers to compromise the project. The attackers impersonated Bithumb exchange via phishing emails, tricking a project director into clicking a malicious attachment that deployed remote access malware on their device, ultimately gaining wallet private keys. On Ethereum, they upgraded a contract and transferred approximately 141 million H tokens; on BSC, they took control of the ProxyAdmin contract and minted additional tokens. The stolen assets were then dumped on Uniswap and PancakeSwap over approximately 8 hours. Ethereum's H token contract has been frozen, but BSC remains under attacker control with minting privileges intact. The mainnet bridge was unaffected. The team is coordinating with exchanges and security partners on recovery measures.
