According to Yonhapinfomax, Sae-A Aerospace and Defense Materials, a subsidiary of Sae-A Steel Group, was selected by Airbus as a high-strength aluminum alloy supplier on July 23 at the Farnborough International Airshow 2026 in London. The two companies signed a long-term supply agreement (LTA), with the company to begin formal mass production and supply from 2028 onwards. Quality certification will commence in the second half of 2026.
The contract was signed prior to product certification completion, which is unusual and reflects Sae-A's demonstrated process control technology and quality competitiveness amid global aerospace supply chain bottlenecks. The company also signed a long-term supply agreement with Boeing in December 2025 and plans to start operating a new facility in Changnyeong, South Korea from 2027.
