South Korea and Mongolia Sign 21 MOUs Focusing on Critical Minerals and Digital Finance on July 9

According to Yonhap Infomax, South Korea and Mongolia signed 21 memorandums of understanding and contracts during a business forum in Ulan Bator on July 9, 2026. The event was attended by South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, Mongolian President Khurelsukh Oyun-Erdene, and approximately 300 business leaders from both nations.

The two countries identified critical minerals, distribution and consumer goods, and digital finance as core cooperation areas. Key signings included POSCO International partnering with the Genghis Khan Sovereign Wealth Fund on critical mineral exploration, E-Mart launching a 10-year anniversary promotion to support 380 South Korean exporters, and Kakao Bank collaborating on digital financial services with MCS Holdings.
