South Korea's ETF Market Plunges 100 Trillion Won in One Month, Net Assets Drop to 437 Trillion Won

According to Edaily, on July 22, South Korea's ETF market saw net assets plunge from a record 533 trillion won to 437 trillion won over one month, erasing roughly 100 trillion won in value. The decline followed a domestic stock market selloff, with major index-tracking and semiconductor-themed ETFs hit hardest; leveraged ETF assets fell by half to 5.32 trillion won during the same period.

Despite the selloff, individual investors added a net 13 trillion won in ETF purchases over the month, signaling ongoing structural growth in the market. Analysts attributed the resilience to sustained fund flows from equities to ETFs and rising pension-linked ETF investments, suggesting long-term demand remains intact.
