South Korea's Exports Hit $102.25B in June, Up 70.9% Year-on-Year; Chip Boom Offsets Manufacturing Slowdown

According to the Korea Development Institute, South Korea's exports surged to $102.25 billion in June, marking a 70.9% year-on-year increase and hitting the $100 billion milestone for the first time. Semiconductor exports reached $44.82 billion, nearly tripling and exceeding $40 billion in monthly exports for the first time, driven by strong artificial intelligence-related demand and rising chip prices. The KDI noted that while semiconductor export growth has moderated, the chip sector's boom is offsetting weakness in other manufacturing areas, keeping the economy on a recovery trajectory.
