South Korea's National Pension Service Head Clarifies Fund's Investment Purpose on July 22

According to E-Daily, on July 22, Kim Sung-joo, head of South Korea's National Pension Service (NPS), posted on social media to clarify that the fund's investment strategy does not aim to support or defend the stock market. Kim stated that NPS operates based on six principles including profitability, stability, and public interest, with the core mission to generate sustainable long-term returns for retirees' benefit rather than provide short-term market support. The statement comes as the second public clarification this month, following July 1 comments refuting a "74 trillion won selling bomb" theory circulated among securities firms.
