South Korea's Small-Cap Stocks Plunge on July 21 as Monami Falls 29.89%, Hansung Down 12.29%

According to Money Today, South Korea's small-cap stocks experienced sharp declines on July 21 morning as short-term overheating reversed. Monami, a stationery company, dropped 29.89% to its daily lower limit of 2,615 Korean won at 9:18 a.m., while Hansung Enterprise, known for its crab-flavored snack "Kraemi," fell 12.29% to 8,920 won. Other retailers including fashion company Vivian and furniture maker Ennex also posted losses exceeding 20%.

The sell-off follows the Korea Exchange's announcement to raise market capitalization thresholds for listed companies in the second half of 2026, with minimum requirements set at 30 billion won for Kospi-listed stocks and 20 billion won for Kosdaq-listed stocks, triggering volatility in micro-cap stocks at risk of delisting.
