Spain Blocks Polymarket and Kalshi Over Missing Gambling License, 7-10 Day Timeline

According to Spain's Ministry of Consumer Affairs, the country published sanction proceedings against Polymarket and Kalshi on Tuesday (May 26) for operating as unlicensed gambling platforms. The ministry simultaneously ordered internet service providers to block both websites nationwide, with the block taking effect within 7 to 10 days. The formal sanction process is expected to run three to four months before a final resolution. Both platforms lack the required Spanish gambling license and consumer protection safeguards, including age verification systems and self-exclusion mechanisms for problem gamblers.
