Stablecoin Velocity Hits Record 49.7x in May 2026 as Bitcoin ETF Outflows Reach $6.6B

According to DWF Labs, stablecoin velocity reached a record 49.7x annualized rate in May 2026, with $320 billion in supply processing $6.64 trillion in filtered transaction volume over five months. The metric, which measures how often each tokenized dollar changes hands, indicates a shift from trading tool to payments infrastructure. Meanwhile, Bitcoin ETFs have sustained $6.6 billion in outflows since October 2025, with Blackrock's IBIT recording redemptions on May 27. Ethereum ETF demand also weakened in May, as Blackrock's ETHA posted sustained outflows.
