Switzerland Issues Statement on U.S. Trade Commitments, Plans Tariff Cuts and Standards Simplification

According to Jin10 and a Swiss government statement on June 30, the Swiss Federal Council issued an intention declaration outlining measures to implement trade commitments made to the United States. The country has already reduced import tariffs on certain American goods and plans additional steps including simplified recognition of U.S. standards in conformity assessment, medical devices, passenger vehicles, and government procurement. The measures will be implemented through regulatory amendments. Switzerland expects the U.S. to fulfill its reciprocal commitments, with negotiations on a legally binding trade agreement ongoing.
