Syscoin Cross-Chain Bridge Halts After Attack Involving 5 Billion SYS Tokens

SYS-5.72%

According to ChainCatcher, Syscoin's cross-chain bridge was compromised recently due to a validation vulnerability, affecting approximately 5 billion SYS tokens. Bridging services have been suspended while the team investigates and repairs the issue. Attackers exploited a flaw in the bridge's verification process to create unauthorized SYS outputs on the UTXO side.

The affected funds have been moved and split. Syscoin's team is tracking compromised tokens and coordinating with exchanges and ecosystem partners to prevent their deposit, trading, or further distribution. The team has identified a fix and recommends users refrain from interacting with the bridge until services resume.
