Gate News message, April 28 — The Abu Dhabi National Oil Company (ADNOC) has advised major crude oil buyers to shift loading operations from the Strait of Hormuz to Fujairah port on the Gulf of Oman coast, aiming to mitigate risks from regional geopolitical tensions affecting energy transport.
Fujairah port, located outside the Strait of Hormuz, allows tankers to access the Arabian Sea without entering sensitive waters and serves as a critical backup export route for the UAE in response to potential strait closure risks. The port is supported by the ADCOP (Habshan-Fujairah) pipeline, which directly transports Abu Dhabi crude to the eastern coast export terminal, bypassing the Strait of Hormuz entirely.
As Middle East tensions persist, the UAE is proactively restructuring its crude export pathways to enhance supply stability and market competitiveness. Fujairah port is transitioning from a traditional bunkering hub to a key global energy export hub as more buyers shift their loading operations to the facility.
