US and Philippines Accelerate 4,000-Acre AI Hub Plans in New Clark City

According to Bloomberg, on May 18, the US and the Philippines are accelerating plans for an AI and supply chain hub at a 4,000-acre site in New Clark City north of Manila. Jacob Helberg, US Under Secretary of State for Economic Affairs, said talks focus on securing long-term protections for American investors across changes in government. Helberg visited the site with more than a dozen US companies. The Philippine government rejected a US request for diplomatic immunity for Americans based there, though the project follows the Philippines’ entry into the Pax Silica supply chain alliance.
