U.S. Confirms Second Screwworm Case in Texas Cattle on June 6

According to Jin10, the U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed on June 6 a second case of New World screwworm infection in cattle in Texas. Georgia's Department of Agriculture announced it will restrict livestock and pets from over a dozen Texas counties from entering the state in response to the outbreak. The USDA stated the parasite poses no threat to food supply, noting that FDA-approved treatment drugs are currently being transported to Texas.
