U.S. Proposes 25% Tariffs on Brazil Over Unfair Trade Practices on June 1

According to the U.S. Trade Representative Office, the U.S. proposes 25% tariffs on Brazilian goods on June 1 following findings of unfair trade practices. The announcement exempts numerous products, including coffee, beef, certain fruits, and aircraft parts. The USTR cited Section 301 of the Trade Act, stating Brazil's policies in digital trade, electronic payment services, anti-corruption enforcement, intellectual property protection, ethanol market access, and illegal logging are "unreasonable and burden or restrict U.S. commerce."
