According to AXIOS on July 21, a U.S. official stated that the Trump administration is pursuing both military strikes and diplomatic negotiations with Iran. The official said the U.S. aims to hold Iran accountable for violations of memoranda of understanding, continued "terrorist activities" in the Strait of Hormuz, and responsibility for recent deaths of U.S. military personnel. Military operations will continue until the president decides otherwise, though talks between the two countries remain ongoing.
