According to a Nikkei report, U.S. tech giants Alphabet, Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, and Oracle saw their off-balance sheet liabilities surge to $1.65 trillion over four years, driven by accelerating artificial intelligence investments. The figure exceeds their reported on-balance sheet debt, complicating investor risk assessments. Meta's off-balance sheet debt reached approximately $420 billion, nearly triple its recorded debt.
