#Gate Plaza Newbie Village Phase 6
Hello everyone, I am an ordinary trader in the Gate Family. Seeing the theme of this event - "The biggest enemy is one's own emotions", I resonate deeply with it. This phrase is simply the most accurate annotation of my trading journey over the past year. Today, I want to share my story with you, which is not a myth of getting rich quickly, but a true record of how to fight against the "monsters" within oneself.
Chapter 1: The Fear Dominated by FOMO of a Newbie
I still remember when I first entered the market, Bitcoin was soaring. Friends around me and messages in the group were filled with voices saying "It's doubled again" and "If you don't get in now, it will be too late." That feeling was like a grand party; you stood outside, afraid of missing every beat.
This is the first enemy I encountered: FOMO.
Driven by this emotion, I made almost all the mistakes that newbies tend to make: buying high and selling low. Seeing a certain altcoin suddenly surge by 20%, I was afraid of missing this wealth train and recklessly invested all my funds. What was the result? I often bought at the highest point and then watched it plummet. In a panic, I sold at the bottom, euphemistically calling it "stopping loss," but in reality, it was just an instinctive reaction after my emotional collapse.
During that time, my candlestick chart had no technicals, only chaotic lines drawn by greed and fear.
Chapter 2: Abyss Reflection, Fighting Against "Hope" and "Luck"
After several losses, I did not immediately realize my mistake; instead, I faced a second enemy: the feeling of luck.
Once, a token I held had already fallen below all the support levels I had set, and the technical indicators were completely deteriorating. But there was a voice in my mind saying, "What if? What if this is just the market maker shaking off the weak hands and will soon pull up violently?" I stubbornly held on to this faint "hope," even continuing to add to my position during the decline, trying to average down my cost—resulting in losses that grew larger and larger like a snowball.
That experience made me realize that in the market, "hope" is a dangerous word. It leads you to go against your plans, ignore risks, and ultimately be ruthlessly taught a lesson by the market.
Chapter 3: The Beginning of Transformation: Formulating Strategies, Taming the Inner Self
Real change begins when I stop trading crazily and start to calm down and learn. I spent a lot of time reading, watching tutorials, and developing a simple trading strategy for myself:
1. Never fully allocate: Divide funds into 10 parts, and do not exceed 1 part for any single order.
2. Set a hard stop loss: Before buying, clearly tell yourself that if it falls to this position, you must exit unconditionally, with no "what ifs."
3. Keep a trading journal: Record the buying and selling points of each operation, your feelings at the time, and the decision-making logic. Upon reviewing, I was surprised to find that most losses stemmed from emotional drives rather than strategy failures.
This process is painful because it requires me to constantly fight against my own instincts. When the market is euphoric, I have to restrain the urge to chase highs; when the assets drop and hit the stop loss, I must execute discipline like a robot, even if it goes up again afterwards.
Chapter 4: The Current Me: Coexisting with Emotions and Growing with Gate
Now, I can't say that I have completely conquered my emotions, but I have learned to coexist with them. I understand that the success in trading does not lie in how many times you catch a surge, but in whether you can survive countless small losses and firmly hold onto the trends that truly belong to you.
I am very grateful for platforms and channels like Gate Square and @discovery, which allow me to see more shares from Gate Family members. From other people’s stories, I see my own reflection and have received a lot of comfort and inspiration. I know that I am not alone on this journey.
Finally, I want to say to every newbie friend: technical analysis can be learned, but the refinement of one's character cannot be replaced by anyone. Your trading system is ultimately a projection of your inner character. Let us learn knowledge, share experiences, and more importantly, cultivate that heart that remains calm amidst volatility together in the Gate family.
Thank you for this event #Gate广场新手村第六期 , which gave me the opportunity to sort through my past. I also wish that every participant can find their own rhythm in trading.
