ByteDance announces it has reached a final agreement with Savvy Games Group, a subsidiary of Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund, to sell Moonton Games for a price exceeding $6 billion.

In the era of strict regulation, ByteDance's gaming division fought a massive battle with Tencent. Ultimately, the probability of any individual game succeeding was not high—in fact, Tencent won out. This was a match that seemed like it would never be lost, yet still required defensive precautions.

However, entering this new era, Tencent appears to have already fallen significantly behind on another battlefield. ByteDance's competitors in their eyes have shifted to a different tier entirely.

The paths chosen in the past determine the upper limits. For example, Google accumulated enormous amounts of data—essentially, everyone has been training their models for 15 years.

A loss may turn out to be a gain. Though the east has passed, the west still holds promise.
