BlockBeats News, April 4 — a source familiar with the situation told CNBC that the U.S. Senate Banking Committee will hold a hearing on April 16 to consider the nomination of Kevin Warsh for the position of chair of the Federal Reserve. Another criminal investigation into the Fed is still ongoing — as part of it, it is being checked whether the current Chair Powell made false statements to Congress regarding the costly renovation of the Fed headquarters building. The nomination process for Warsh is ongoing, which potentially creates a conflict between two parallel processes initiated by the Trump administration.

Senate Banking Committee member Tom Tillis said he will not vote to confirm Warsh until the investigation is completed, pointing out that Trump cannot push both processes at the same time. Nevertheless, by pushing for the hearing, Trump apparently is trying to achieve this goal. The Senate Banking Committee has not yet scheduled a hearing for a public session. (FXStreet)
