People who want to short are probably queued all the way over to France, but it just won’t drop.

First pump it up, then lure shorts, pulling in a huge number of short sellers; once the shorts are in, then suddenly—boom—there’s a round of death spikes. Perfectly a double-kill of both longs and shorts.
Then, during the water-accumulation phase, the funding/fees get maxed out—run the fees to full capacity, take the fees, and grind retail investors to death.

Even trading short-term is like licking blood off a knife tip—don’t even mention long-term. Don’t short carelessly unless you’ve got strong mental fortitude and capital management ability, or you’re basically walking straight into your own death.
