Anticipating Quantum Computers, Ripple Prepares XRPL Roadmap Through 2028

Ripple officially launches a four-phase roadmap to overhaul the security architecture of XRP Ledger (XRPL) to face future quantum computer threats. This step aims to strengthen the network's fundamentals before "Q-Day," a point at which quantum computers are predicted to be able to break traditional cryptographic systems. The full transition to this quantum-resistant structure is targeted to be completed by 2028.
This overhaul process will begin with the formation of an emergency response framework and account migration mechanisms in the first phase. By the first half of 2026, Ripple will analyze network vulnerabilities and test the latest cryptography standards proposed by NIST. The next phase includes testing quantum-resistant signature systems on the testnet to ensure a smooth transition without disrupting user or developer experience.
In the final phase, Ripple plans to revise the network protocol by adopting quantum-resistant signatures as the standard architecture. In addition to focusing on security, this update will also bring broader privacy and tokenization features. This proactive step is viewed positively by the market, with short-term bullish sentiment predicted to push XRP's price toward the psychological level of $1.55 if it manages to stay above the support at $1.37.
