Strategy has overtaken BlackRock IBIT to claim the title of the world's largest public Bitcoin holder.

Last week, Strategy purchased 34,164 BTC for approximately $2.54 billion, increasing its total Bitcoin holdings to 815,061 BTC. This move surpassed BlackRock's leading spot Bitcoin ETF, IBIT, which holds 802,824 BTC, setting a new milestone in institutional Bitcoin ownership. With an average cost price of $75,527, this purchase marks the third largest weekly purchase of all time.

During the same period, BlackRock IBIT added another 3,355 BTC to its portfolio on April 20th with a net inflow of $256.05 million, continuing its nine-day streak of uninterrupted inflows. These inflows pushed IBIT's total holdings above the $61 billion mark, once again confirming the continued momentum of institutional investor demand for Bitcoin.

It's also noteworthy that BlackRock launched its no-code AI agent platform, "RockAI," for in-house developers around the same time. The traditional financial giant is leading the way in institutional innovation by simultaneously strengthening both Bitcoin accumulation and AI infrastructure.

This picture clearly demonstrates the maturation of the institutional perspective on Bitcoin. On one hand, passive capital flowing into ETFs, and on the other, companies like Strategy accumulating Bitcoin directly through aggressive treasury strategies… Both are creating long-term demand in a market where supply is increasingly tightening. As institutional Bitcoin purchases gain momentum, supported by record inflow series from spot ETFs, this environment solidifies Bitcoin's place in institutional portfolios as a mature asset class.
