Rumors of Pentagon Email proposing "punishments" against NATO leak

An email drafted and circulated internally by Elbridge Colby - the top policy advisor at the Pentagon - has been leaked. The proposed NATO sanctions in the email:
- Suspend Spain from NATO (for refusing to allow use of Rota, Morón bases and closing airspace)
- Reconsider the UK’s stance on Falkland sovereignty to pressure London
- Exclude "difficult" countries from key NATO positions
- The Pentagon does not deny the email, stating it will ensure the President has "reliable options"
Reactions from NATO members:
- NATO: The treaty has no mechanism to suspend members; these proposals are outside current rules
- Spain (Sánchez): "We are not worried at all because we work through official documents, not emails"
- UK: Falkland sovereignty "belongs to the UK and cannot be changed"
The Iran conflict raises serious questions about NATO’s future, with concerns that the US may not defend Europe if attacked.
