Nothing resides,

Nothing is everywhere

There is a phrase in the Diamond Sutra,

Called “Should have no residence,

And give rise to the mind.”

The meaning is,

When your mind detaches from the material world,

You develop a truly free mind,

And thus become liberated,

Unhindered.

Actually, this is not hard to understand,

It’s like a mirror,

What it reflects is what it is,

When a glass of water exists,

I objectively observe its presence,

And when the water disappears,

It also vanishes in the mirror,

Sounds a bit abstract, right?

It’s about cherishing it while it exists,

And when it leaves,

We need not cling.

So why did I add four words after the title, “No Residence”,

No Place to Reside?

This person’s mind,

Is like a container,

If it is filled to the brim,

Other things cannot enter.

So “no residence” means some things leave,

And we calmly let go,

Waving goodbye to them.

Alright,

When your inner world is free of hindrances,

Very clear,

And when there is nothing left,

You actually possess the whole world.

Wasn’t there a saying circulating online before? This hand holds space as big as this,

But if you let go? The whole world is in your hand,

This is what I mean by “no place to reside.”

When a person’s entire mind is focused on one thing,

His world is small,

All his emotions,

His mood,

Are influenced by one matter,

And he cannot see beyond it,

That there are so many other beautiful things.

Just like someone who loves their phone very much,

All their thoughts are on the phone,

Like a pearl in the palm,

Protecting it,

Caring for it,

Any slight bump,

They feel heartbroken.

See,

His inner world is filled with a mobile phone,

Can he still notice the beauty of this world? I think probably not.

Of course, this is a matter of personal choice and preference,

We do not judge,

What I want to express is,

Sometimes when we stop caring about gains and losses,

We actually gain more.

If a glass of milk is spilled on the ground,

And we care very much about this glass of milk,

We will blame ourselves,

Regret,

And all the good mood of the day will evaporate with the milk,

No longer existing.

But if we are free of attachment,

It’s spilled,

We cannot change it,

Then accept it,

Pick up the cup,

Clean the ground,

Pour another glass,

What just happened was terrible,

But it does not affect me happily continuing my own things.

The past second has already gone,

Let it go with the wind,

The next second is a new beginning,

We fully engage and cherish it,

This will make our life better,

And more complete.

A person’s life,

Is a continuous process of evolution and change,

Just like how I looked when I was a child,

Very cute,

Very naive,

Skin was good,

But this state will eventually pass,

I have grown taller now,

Grown up,

I no longer cling to the innocence of the past,

But fully immerse myself in the present,

In this youthful period that is still a bit shy.

This youth will also pass,

I will grow old with time,

Gradually become mature,

But that’s none of my current concern,

The future that hasn’t come yet is not related to me,

I only experience the youthful impulsiveness now,

And that’s enough.

No residence, no everywhere,

There are many things in this material world we cannot change,

Just like our breathing and heartbeat,

No matter how we think about it, they won’t stop,

So it’s better to calm down,

Listen to the wonderful sound of each breath,

And each heartbeat,

Enjoy the process.

Yes,

No one can predict the external environment,

But the state of our inner world,

Is within our control,

The same thing,

We can face it with a happy attitude,

Or with a sad one,

It all depends on ourselves.
