Aave is set to launch the Umbrella system to prevent bad debts from June 5, 2025.
According to the Aave community forum, AAVE will officially launch the Umbrella system on June 5, 2025, allowing users to stake aTokens to prevent bad debt in the protocol and receive rewards. This mechanism replaces the previous AAVE staking and stkABPT methods, while directly destroying aTokens to handle bad debt, helping to increase capital efficiency and automatic activation mechanisms. Initially, Umbrella will be deployed on networks such as Ethereum, Arbitrum, Avalanche, and Base, supporting major assets like USDC, USDT, and WETH. The Umbrella system has completed development and auditing, ready for launch.
