Since Musk publicly opposed the “Big and Beautiful Act”, Trump immediately challenged him and even hinted at canceling government contracts related to TSL and SpaceX, causing TSL’s stock price to evaporate by 153 billion dollars in one day. With both sides at a stalemate, Vice President JD Vance had to step in to ease tensions, reaching out to Musk on a program and hoping he would return.

Trump stated without reservation during an interview on June 7:

“I gave him a chance when I was in power last time, even saved his life, but now he has forgotten my kindness. I don’t plan to talk to him again.”

Trump further warned Musk:

“If he dares to fund the Democratic candidate, there will be very serious consequences.”

After the news broke, TSL’s stock price evaporated by 153 billion dollars in a single day, becoming the market’s focal point.

Despite considerable opposition from Musk, Trump still stated:

“He doesn’t have the ability to block this bill, I am confident that this bill will pass before July 4th.”

Currently, there are still enough votes within the Republican Party to support the passage of this proposal.
