Only 10% chance of ex-Astronomer CEO suing Coldplay
Only 10% chance of ex-Astronomer CEO suing Coldplay originally appeared on TheStreet.
Ex-Astronomer CEO Andy Byron could reportedly sue Coldplay following the “kiss cam” controversy at a concert in Foxborough, Massachusetts, on July 17.
While there is no confirmation yet, traders on the crypto-based prediction market, Polymarket, are placing their bets on the event. 9% of the Polymarket traders have bet more than $126,000 on Byron suing the music band.
Launched in 2020, the New York City-headquartered Polymarket is the world’s largest prediction market. It allows traders to bet on several events, such as crypto prices, stablecoin policy, political phenomena, economic news, sports — or the unlikely outcome of a music concert, in this case — using cryptocurrency.
Polymarket entered into a partnership with X — among the most popular social media platforms for the crypto community — on June 6.

While there is hardly anyone who isn’t aware of the controversy, here is a quick recap for those unfamiliar.
At the Coldplay concert, a camera caught Byron embracing Astronomer’s HR head, Kristin Cabot. Once the two realized what had happened, they immediately rushed to hide their faces.
Coldplay frontman Chris Martin immediately remarked:
Byron, already married to another lady, has since tendered his resignation — an outcome that nearly 100% of the Polymarket traders had nailed.
In a masterstroke of brand rehabilitation, Astronomer recently roped in Hollywood actor Gwyneth Paltrow, who is also the ex-wife of Chris Martin, as temporary spokesperson for a video titled “Thank you for your interest in Astronomer.”
