Binance Charity United Blockchain Enthusiasts Association donated over 3.5 million TWD to the virtual asset charity program in Hualien.

October 21, 2025, Taipei, Taiwan — In response to the severe disaster caused by the dam break of the blocked lake at Mataian Creek in Hualien County affecting Guangfu Township, Binance, the world's largest virtual asset ecosystem, through its charitable foundation Binance Charity, announced a joint initiative with the Taiwan Blockchain Enthusiasts Association to launch a virtual asset charity donation program. The program raised a total of 117,210 USDT stablecoins, which, when converted to New Taiwan Dollars, amounts to 3,571,631 TWD, and has been fully donated to the special account of the Taiwan Ministry of Health and Welfare's Disaster Relief Foundation for the “0923 Hualien Mataian Creek Dam Disaster Project Fundraising” to assist in post-disaster relief and reconstruction efforts in the affected areas.

Within a week of the disaster, Binance began collaboration and communication with the Blockchain Enthusiasts Association. As one of the main initiators of the project, Binance Charity independently donated 100,000 USDT to contribute to the post-disaster reconstruction efforts in Guangfu Township. At the same time, at the invitation of Binance and the Blockchain Enthusiasts Association, many organizations and individuals also responded to the disaster relief plan, collectively raising an additional 17,210 USDT, demonstrating the cohesion and philanthropic spirit of the blockchain and virtual asset community in the face of disaster.

Binance CEO Richard Teng stated: “We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims and sincerely hope that all affected individuals can return to normal life as soon as possible. The post-disaster recovery efforts require continuous input and attention from all sectors of society. We hope to gather more resources through practical actions to provide comfort to the disaster victims and assist the disaster-stricken areas in recovering as soon as possible.”

The chairman of the Blockchain Enthusiasts Association, Gao Qijun, stated: “Goodwill knows no borders, just as Blockchain has no regional limitations. Through this collaboration with Binance Charity, we hope to integrate the application of blockchain technology into Taiwan's public welfare and charity endeavors. This not only provides tangible assistance to those in need but also opens up more possibilities for donations in Taiwan.”

Unlike traditional donation methods that involve direct contributions in fiat currency, this charitable donation adopts stablecoin contributions. The USDT raised by this program will be fully converted into New Taiwan Dollar through local virtual asset service providers in Taiwan, and ultimately donated to the designated account of the Foundation for Disaster Relief. All processes will adhere to the highest standards of transparency and compliance — this model not only opens up new pathways for Taiwan to accept virtual asset donations but also marks a new chapter in the integration of blockchain technology with public welfare in Taiwan.

At the same time, to show support for the many volunteers who spontaneously participated in the disaster area clearing work, Binance Charity will also launch an additional subsidy program, allocating 100,000 USD to be open for all disaster relief volunteers to apply for allowances, hoping to encourage society to continue paying attention to the reconstruction and recovery process of the disaster area.
