SitusAMC, a technology provider that offers real estate loan and mortgage origination and collection services to hundreds of banks and other lending institutions, confirmed on Saturday that it was a victim of a cyber attack. The company confirmed that the leaked data pertains to residential mortgage loans. SitusAMC CEO Michael Franco stated that law enforcement has been notified and is focusing on analyzing any potentially affected data. FBI Director Kash Patel stated that they are working closely with affected organizations and partners to understand the extent of the potential impact, but no operational impact on banking services has been found thus far. A spokesperson for JPMorgan Chase indicated that the bank itself was not directly attacked. SitusAMC holds a vast amount of personal data from loan applications, including sensitive information such as Social Security numbers. Furthermore, as the company provides services such as regulatory compliance, it may also possess sensitive information regarding the internal operations of banks themselves and their real estate asset risk holdings.
