Edge infrastructure startup IO River successfully raised $20 million (approximately 2.88 billion KRW) in Series A funding, officially initiating a paradigm shift in next-generation content delivery and edge services. The company has gained attention for its “multi-edge platform,” which integrates multiple edge networks into a single logical system to address the dependency issues of traditional Content Delivery Networks (CDN).
Founded in 2022, IO River adopts a model that separates edge infrastructure from advanced services such as security, computing, and application logic, effectively lowering market entry barriers. Its core advantage lies in enabling enterprises to avoid reliance on traditional global CDN providers while maintaining high performance and consistent security, allowing them to select the optimal service providers by region.
The company’s core technologies include AI traffic scheduling, centralized network configuration management, and observability integration, aiming to allow users to easily operate multi-edge network environments without additional technical resources. This model particularly offers small and medium-sized enterprises the opportunity to utilize advanced network architectures, significantly enhancing market accessibility.
IO River currently serves core clients in streaming media, gaming, retail, and SaaS sectors, processing over 200PB of data monthly, and has attracted a diversified customer base including Minute.ly, Shuffll, and RGE Media Group. Co-founder and CEO Edward Zinovoy emphasized, “The advantages of multi-edge architecture were previously limited to large enterprises, but IO River is driving its democratization.”
This Series A funding round was led by Venture Guides and New Era Capital, with participation from S Capital and private investors. Investors include Orpheus Ehrlich, CEO of Eon.io, and Pavel Gurevich, co-founder of Tenzai. Venture Guides partner Sedge Nair commented, “While multi-edge structures are theoretically ideal, their implementation has been overly complex. IO River is accelerating market adoption by removing this complexity.”
This funding marks IO River’s second round of capital raising, having previously secured $5.4 million in early investment in 2024. The technology that separates edge infrastructure from services signals a powerful trend that will reshape the competitive landscape of the CDN market and the entire infrastructure industry.
