The documentary revealed that Yao Qian, former Director of the Science and Technology Supervision Department of the China Securities Regulatory Commission and former Director of the Digital Currency Research Institute of the People’s Bank of China, had key evidence of disciplinary violations locked on blockchain technology. Investigations showed that as early as 2018, Yao Qian accepted a request from cryptocurrency businessman Zhang to use his influence to “give a heads-up” to virtual currency exchanges, helping his company successfully issue tokens and raise 20,000 ETH. Later, through his trusted subordinate Jiang Guoqing, he secretly received 2,000 ETH as “digital remuneration.” Ironically, the investigation team later recovered a hardware wallet storing the bribe money from his office drawer.
