OpenAI is projected to surpass $280 billion in revenue by 2030

This forecast reflects the rapid increase in revenue from AI software subscriptions for both individual users and businesses. Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar stated that the annual revenue for 2025 exceeded $20 billion, a significant increase from approximately $6 billion the previous year. OpenAI is encouraging users to pay for services to offset the enormous costs of chips, data centers, and personnel, while also adjusting its infrastructure spending plan through 2030.

According to CNBC, the company previously issued a “code red” to accelerate ChatGPT improvements ahead of competition from Google and Anthropic. The coding product Codex has surpassed 1.5 million weekly active users, directly competing with Claude Code.
