ChainCatcher News: On the evening of February 28, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Bahar Gaei stated that Iran’s Supreme Leader Khamenei and President Raisi are both “safe and sound.” Gaei made this statement during interviews with ABC and Sky News UK. Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu delivered a speech that same evening, saying that increasing signs indicate Khamenei “is no longer alive.” Israeli media later quoted senior Israeli officials reporting that Khamenei “has passed away.” (Xinhua)
