BlockBeats News, March 3 — U.S. President Donald Trump stated that in response to the drone attack on the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and U.S. military casualties related to Iran conflicts, the U.S. will announce retaliatory measures “soon.” He also said there is no need for the U.S. to send ground troops to Iran.
The Saudi Ministry of Defense reported on social media that initial assessments show two drones struck the U.S. embassy facilities in Riyadh, causing small fires and some material damage. Several sources said the incident occurred early Tuesday morning when no one was working inside the embassy, and no casualties have been reported. Black smoke was seen rising over the diplomatic area in Riyadh. The embassy later issued “shelter-in-place” notices to U.S. citizens in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dahran.
Marco Rubio told reporters that the U.S. faces an “imminent threat,” and that the U.S. is aware of Israel’s plans to take action against Iran, expecting Iran to retaliate by attacking U.S. military targets. After a classified briefing, Mike Johnson said the U.S. is moving forward with a “limited scope, targeted but absolutely necessary” operation, which is expected to conclude soon.
Additionally, the U.S. and Israel continue expanding airstrikes against Iran, with Israel targeting Hezbollah positions in Lebanon, while Iran continues missile and drone attacks on Gulf countries hosting U.S. troops.
