OpenAI reasoning model core researcher switches to Anthropic

BlockBeats News, March 4 — OpenAI reasoning model core researcher Max Schwarzer announced his departure on X platform, transitioning to Anthropic.
It is reported that Schwarzer was one of the early contributors to the o1 reasoning model. He led the post-training of o1 and o3 and has been leading the entire post-training team over the past year, delivering GPT-5, 5.1, 5.2, and 5.3-Codex.
Max stated that after joining Anthropic, he will focus on reinforcement learning research.
